We had a neighbor who earned our wrath when he cycled at breakneck speed to return home after work.We decided to teach him a lesson. One evening we waited for him to return to execute our plan. We tied a coir string between two trees that were growing on opposite sides of the cycle path. We made sure the string was taut and it would not give way. That evening when our prey was cycling back at his usual speed we hid among the bushes to see the results of our work. The guy entered the cycle path at his known speed, did not see the string stretched on the path and came tumbling down. We clapped our hands in glee but soon realised the cyclist was motionless and we began to panic.
Someone had the presence of mind to sprinkle some water on his face and we were relieved to see him stirring. We removed the string and pretended not to know the cause of his fall. Soon he came around looked around for the cause of his fall, and on seeing innocent faces dusted himself and went on his way.
We did not escape unscathed however. Some of the elders had witnessed the whole scene - when we arrived home, we were given just punishment for the cruel deed. It was then that we realised the extent of injuries we could have caused and refrained from indulging in this cruel sport.
